for the record

The very idea of spinning or knitting dog hair, cat hair, or any other kind of pet hair absolutely makes me want to throw up. It's not cool to me -- it's freaky and disturbing -- and every time I see someone mention it, I shudder. Heebie Jeebies. Totally skeeved. Yuck.

I can't really say that on the forums....just had to get it out.

I agree. It makes me feel itchy! Some "fibers" are just not meant to be yarn.

Hello - I came across your blog while going through the Knitty Heads ring and had to comment on this post.

I too think it's way creepy and heebie jeebie-inducing to knit with dog or cat hair. I didn't know people did this until I saw a guest on DIY's Knitty Gritty talk about how she used to walk her friend's dog, which happened to shed a lot. The guest then said that she saved all of the hair, washed, dyed and spun it, AND made her friend a purse out of it! I KNOW! Who on EARTH would use a purse made out of his or her own dog's fur?!

Just...NO.

I've been knitting since 01/05, spinning since 07/06. Mmmmm, yarn.
